How To MakeSayu Correctly
Ingredients:
– Water
Instructions:
- Use Clean Water
Start with clean, fresh water. Ideally, use spring water or filtered water for the best flavour.
- Boil Water
Bring the water to a boil. You can use a kettle or a pot preferably on the stovetop or real fire. I have heard that it is known in Ayurvedic tradition that when water is heated with fire, it transforms into wind and then it becomes three elements; water, fire and wind. It’s essential to bring the water to a rolling boil, preferably for a few minutes.
- Cooling
For making “sayu,” once the water has been boiled, pour it into a special cup made of natural material (not plastic) to cool down to about 45 to 50 degrees in temperature which is warmer than body temperature.
- Drink
Relax and enjoy. Drinking this first thing in the morning has many more benefits but can also be taken throughout the day.
